Playhouse Productions is incorporated
as a non-for-profit theatre production group.
Playhouse Productions’ primary
mission is educational theatre in its broadest sense. Working
with its partners, Playhouse Productions is responsible for providing
a training ground for actors while providing audiences with a
professional quality production at a nominal cost.
The Whitecliff Summer Playhouse
is the mainstay of Playhouse Productions.
Produced in cooperation with the City of Crestwood Parks & Recreation
Department, The Whitecliff Summer Playhouse continues to provide
a summer stock experience in all aspect of musical theatre for
actors of all ages while providing its audience musical theatre
at a very modest cost for the past 15 years.
Playhouse Productions has joined
with the cities of Crestwood, MO and Kirkwood, MO to staff their
award-winning Crestwood-Kirkwood Youth Theatre Program.
Playhouse Productions has also
worked with the cities of Fenton, Mo and Shrewsbury, MO in establishing
their youth theatre programs which are both educational and recreational.
Playhouse Productions has
produced workshops for students and teachers in the Fine and
Performing Arts throughout the state of Missouri.
Whitecliff Summer Playhouse
There
is nothing like the Whitecliff Summer Playhouse in the St. Louis
area. For fifteen seasons the Whitecliff Summer Playhouse has
offered musical theatre training in a real summer-stock environment.
This unique program provides performers, and the community at
large, the opportunity of enjoying the best of musical theatre
in a relaxed, comfortable outdoor setting.

From its first season with 35 high school age
participants and an average audience of 50, The Whitecliff Summer
Playhouse has grown to include a summer company of approximately
200 actor, musicians and technicians performing for an average
audience size of 375
Past-season company members have gone on to
earn their theatre degrees from such schools as Webster University,
Fontbonne, University of Indiana, Creighton and Milliken. Summer
company members are working professionally for cruise lines,
Disney and Universal Theme Parks, in television and professional
theatre.
The Whitecliff Summer Playhouse has twice won
the prestigious Dorothy Mullen Arts & Humanities Award from
the National Recreation and Parks Association. Articles have
appeared in Images, Nation’s Cities Weekly, The Municipal
Review, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Riverfront Times and
The Suburban Journals of St. Louis.
